BIO

Jenn Steeves is a Canadian singer-songwriter from British Columbia, currently based in Goa, India. Jenn began writing folk-tinged tunes on acoustic guitar to play at open mic nights while living in London. Inspired by classic songwriters of the ‘60s and ‘70s as well as pop and electronica sounds and textures, she writes songs to express the things you just can't say.

Jenn released her debut solo EP ‘Sidelines’ in May 2023, a collection of songs she wrote in her first few years of living in India, while navigating change and conflicting desires. The songs reflect the idea of moving beyond the lines we draw around ourselves, revealing sides that we don't always show. Weaving together the folk and singer-songwriter traditions of storytelling with dreamy, synth-based soundscapes, the songs are Jenn’s experiments with pop music, as she explored production alongside songwriting for the first time. Recorded at Quarter Note Studios in Delhi during the pandemic, the EP was co-produced by Jenn and Abhishek Mathur of Plan 17.

Jenn has performed in Canada, the UK, Hong Kong and India. Along with Oxford-based multi-instrumentalist James Askwith, she is one half of electro-pop duo Slow Drift, which has received critical acclaim in the UK including airplay on BBC Radio 6 and BBC Music Introducing.
